They say
“You’ll want children
when you grow up.”
But I will never want kids,
I know that.
And the thought of being a mother
repulses me.
Because,
I could never live with the possibility
of letting my own kids down
The way my mother let me down.
And I could not stand my children
to feel hate towards me
the way I feel towards my mother.
And I could not stand for a little 3 year old girl
To run her tiny hands over my arms,
And say, “What are these from, Mommy?”
I just—
I can’t do it.
“You’ll want children
